Other than being a brilliant Programme Manager, Val was extraordinary in building and maintaining the relationships, not just with Senior Directors of the 4 councils, but also the people that worked for her. A Leader in the truest sense of the word.

I had the pleasure of working for Val at the GSCC, through a time of turmoil, change and eventual closure of the organisation. Val was always positive and extremely supportive, able to bring out the best in everyone, encouraging all her team to reach that bit further and sometimes outside of their comfort zone, but Val always provided us with the confidence to succeed. Val was highly respected by all her team. She delivered projects on time and budget, knew when to intervene and when to trust us to get on with it. Val ensured we followed sound processes and principles and encouraged us to take on more responsibilities. An excellent manager, communicator and information governance professional. One of the best managers I have ever worked for!

Initially, in May 2010, Val was hired to provide IT Programme management for an e-enablement programme for which she swiftly produced a positive feasibility study. From this she moved to become Head of IT, and project manager for Business Continuity, Data Security and latterly Data transfer within our substantial Transfer programme.
Since February 2011 Val has ably filled the role of Transfer and (now) Closure Programme Manager developing the detailed programme plan, managing and motivating project managers and staff to deliver, and keeping a tight grip on meeting requirements and timescales within budget.
Val's commitment, expertise and and team working have been critical to the successful transfer of the organisations's functions by July 31st , and will be key to our organisational closure at the end of September.
Val has been a pleasure to work with for she is knowledgeable, effective, always constructive , utterly reliable and with bags of integrity.
